Last week t-shirt prices were lowered by 6 dollars (mens t-shirts, not sure about the rest).
I thought this was great because it allowed me to sell a mens dark tee for under 20 dollars. Unfortunately a couple days later prices shot back up. I've been told by a member that it was an experiment. I think the lower prices fit the times. If PF found the drop to severe for their bottom line, perhaps split the difference to 3 dollars cut in t-shirt prices. I personally would not increase my profit, I would rather pass it on to my customers. Thoughts? http://www.printfection.com/alienpollution http://www.printfection.com/warpedplanet Last edited by AlienPollution : 11-01-2009 at 08:46 PM. |

My biggest problem with dark t-shirt prices is that the customer does not understand why they cost more. This is the biggest issue for me.
In regular retail, in the Gap, say.. .if there is a t-shirt table with hundreds of the same shirts in different colors, all the colors cost the same of the same shirt... period. The only ones that cost more are prints (stripes floral etc). This is true of any t-shirts anywhere that any of our customers have ever bought in their lives before at any place. Period.. When customers buy apparel online, they do not understand POD, and for the most part don't even understand that the item they are buying doesn't exist until they order it. They don't know, or care about the printing process. This is a fact. Most people just shop online... "Where did you get that shirt?" " Oh, this, I found it online, isn't it cool?' I would have to run some reports, but I would say that I probably sell light and dark apparel in semi equal amounts, in fact for me, maybe 60/40 light to dark, but that's because I don't offer all of my designs on darks yet, because some of my designs are so old that I have not yet created PNGs for them. I personally think that CP did the right thing by making their prices make more sense.... I just think they did the wrong thing by swiping the $ difference off of our end, the shopkeeper. I think CP or any POD for that matter should absorb th higher printing cost by perhaps bringing up the price of some other tees up by .50 so that it comes to sort of a wash. Or, PODS could print ALL apparel in the same way that they print darks, which I think they should do, because the customer also does not understand why the color white is not appearing on their pink shirts, and I am sure this accounts for a large number of my returns, since so many of my designs feature the American flag. Those are my thoughts. |

Very good points. I especially like the idea of slightly raising the price of lower cost items to offset the loss for PF in lowering the price of dark color tees.
Thanks for your thoughts. |

I too would like to see printing that included white on light colored shirts.
